Carl Emil Carlsen

Born 1982, Copenhagen.

Carl Emil creates interactive audiovisual systems in the field of art and design. With a core interest in music and the cross-modal perception of sound and visuals, he explores the machine as a generative tool. Previous works shows great interest in augmented/skewed reality, data visualisation and audiovisual instruments.

Since 2003, he has been active in the Danish interactive art scene, contributing with works for public and private exhibitions spaces, music and poetry scenes and the web. Works have been featured at Aros in århus, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde and the eARTS festival in Shanghai among other places.

Receiving an MA grade in interaction design in 2008, he pursued a freelance career, developing systems for both cultural and commercial clients, working individually or as part of teams. He also teaches in Processing, a programming tool for designers.

The digital tools vary, but often include Processing/Java, Unity/C# and Max/MSP/Jitter.
